A Discord status bot should do more than say online or offline. It should reduce repeated questions, show useful live context and give staff a clear support path.
Show the status players care about
- Display online/offline state, current players, max players, uptime and next scheduled restart.
- Use clear labels but keep the text readable on mobile.
- Add a timestamp so players know whether the status is fresh.
Connect status to support
- When the city is offline, link players to a status or support channel instead of letting them guess.
- Use restart notices for planned maintenance and incident notes for unexpected downtime.
- Keep staff-only logs separate from public announcements.
Avoid noisy automation
- Edit one status message instead of posting a new message every minute.
- Rate-limit updates and only alert people when the state actually changes.
- Do not expose tokens, server credentials or private txAdmin details in embeds.
